Origins

The Story Behind
the Walk

A slow-travel editorial platform exploring the hidden soul of Vietnam, one step at a time.

We started with a simple question: what happens when you slow down? WalkVietnam was born not from a desire to conquer peaks or tick off bucket lists, but from a quiet urge to document the spaces in between destinations. In a world that races to the finish line, we chose to linger on the path.

Vietnam is a country often seen through the window of a moving bus or the blur of a motorbike. But its true texture—the smell of damp earth after a monsoon rain, the sound of distant temple bells, the intricate patterns of a hand-woven Hmong textile—reveals itself only to those who walk.

Mapping the unseen

The Philosophy of Slow Travel

To walk is to engage in a conversation with the land. It is an act of humility. Our contributors are writers, photographers, and historians who believe that the journey matters more than the arrival. We seek out the forgotten trails, the village artisans, and the silent forests.

"
“Walking is the best way to go more slowly than any other method that has ever been found.”
— To walk is to live
